Kayleigh’s Pie

Kayleigh came for tea yesterday so we baked a pie in her honour.  Kayleigh has the most fabulous head of glorious auburn hair – hence her nickname in our family – Auburn.   Ah, now you understand!!

Kayleigh, you’re lovely.  Hope you don’t mind me posting these pictures.

Simple things…..

Best Wedding Dress Supplier

Just want to tell you about a fabulous dress shop that I came across at The Tickled Trout wedding fair.  If you want something unusual and a bit vintagey this is the place to go.  I didn’t meet the lady who runs it but I did meet her Mum in the coffee place.  She was lovely!

Go down to Jenna Elizabeth Bridal  in Preston and have a look at the selection.

Address 146 Garstang Road, Preston, Lancashire PR2 8NA.

Telephone number 01772 716703

There were some fabulous dresses – short and long but all very understated elegance rather than bling.  Very little in the way of strapless gowns that we’ve seen so much of in the last few years.  And I loved them all.  Jenna is a buyer with exceptionally good taste and a liking for vintage I think.

Definitely go and check out her range of dresses – its exceptional.

Weddings, Wedding Fairs and Nice People

OK so its been a really busy weekend at Fotoamour.

Firstly we had Maria and Simon’s wedding at Bartle Hall.  We were blessed with wonderful weather and all the elements were right for some great shots.   A VW Campervan was one of the stars of the show and it was great fun photographing Maria and Simon sampling the delights of it.   The company was Morecambe and Wize  (www.morecambeandwize.co.uk)  tel: 0844 8797265.  The driver was great and accommodating  without being a pain and insisting on ‘The Car Shot’!  He was also dressed nicely – in a suit and not the typical chauffeur/driver kind of outfit.  What a refreshing change!

Bartle Hall are a good venue and the staff are friendly.   I like the ceremony room that Maria and Simon were married in, although it is very dark when the curtains are drawn.  Don’t know whether anything can be done about that, but given the private, secluded nature of the ceremony room I would have thought it would be easy enough to rectify.

The next day we were covering two weddings – Louisa and Mark in Middlewich and Karen and Adam in Scotforth.

Both were church weddings followed by lovely hotels – in Louisa and Mark’s case Cranage Hall, Cheshire.  With Karen and Adam it was The Fabulous Barton Grange Hotel (why don’t you change the name permanently?!).  In both cases we were blessed with just really kind and helpful hotel staff to work with and families that were great fun.  Thanks for making things easy for us, guys.

Finally, a wedding fair yesterday at The Tickled Trout Hotel.  Thanks very much to all those people who visited my stand – the lovely couple who were weighing up Ferrari’s and The Preston Marriott.  Hope my advice helped you make the right decision and think about some alternatives too.  The sweetheart who visited my stand late on with an April wedding next year and who had been waiting patiently until I was available to chat.  Lynne who booked her wedding with me there and then for August at The Willows in Salford.    There were so many more who were just lovely and pleasant people – come back and book me!!  I want to photograph your weddings!

I’d also like to say a big thanks to Maxine and Natasha at The Little White Book Company who organised the day and also to Helen Hacking of the Tickled Trout.  She’s a woman after my own heart, that girl.   (Nice shoes, Helen and Natasha!)

Happy Birthday to Me!

Twenty five years old today – making me possibly the youngest mother in history.

We can but dream!

Barton Grange Wedding Open Evening

Just one for your diaries, girls and boys – my most favourite place in the world, The Barton Grange Hotel, are holding a wedding open evening this coming Thursday night.

You know how I love the Barton Grange and all its staff (mainly because they give me a cup of tea when I go there – I am soooooooo easy to please.  Note!).

So I suggest that you take a little time out of your busy week to get yourselves down there and talk to some people who really know all about weddings.  There is nothing that these guys don’t know about achieving the best day ever for you.

We’re going to be there with a stand and a little display of our work.  So please come and have a chat and tell us about your plans.

Take care!

Easter at The Pearson’s

I love Easter – much as I love Pancake Day – because I like the significant food – Hot Cross Buns and Chocolate!  But also I like all the stuff about Spring and daffodils and crocuses and stuff like that. So this morning, I laid the table in our Beirut Hostage Cell kitchen and put out the Easter eggs that the boys had received from us and their grandparents and we had Hot Cross Buns and boiled eggs!  Bliss.  Thought I’d post some photos.  Am I weird, or what, taking pictures at the breakfast table?!

I love this B&W of Myles – just deeply bored with me taking his photo.  But I think its a really nice picture of him and his glorious lashes – he’s going to kill me for saying that!

So we often get our Easter Eggs from Thornton’s – but, as usual I left it til the last minute and yesterday afternoon they had completely sold out of eggs.  So thanks to Janet and Michael our very dear friends from Cheadle who very kindly bought our boys their quota – how nice is that?

There is an art to getting the top of your hard-boiled egg – apparently you have to lob the top off with a knife.  Personally I prefer the more direct approach – whack it on the top and dig out the broken bits.  Says it all really!

And every year I try and buy an egg cup for each of the boys just to mark the day. Hopefully when they get older they’ll have a lovely collection of them to take with them wherever they may go.  This year I spotted some cute ones in Cherry Pie in Lytham – a lovely shop selling some great little trinkets – earrings, bags, necklaces etc and, obviously, egg cups!
