I’m Jo Pearson.  I run Fotoamour, a wedding photography service aimed at people who appreciate photography and design but without the budget for a big-shot photographer -‘scuse the pun.

I’ve worked with my husband for the past 7 years on big budget weddings and noticed all sorts of things that could have improved the couple’s day.  And where money was spent wisely … and wasted.

What I want to blog about is not only the weddings my team and I photograph, but the way weddings are organised, the best dress for your figure, hints  on make-up and hair, best practice at wedding venues.  Even on how to get the best deal.

It would be nice to be honest about the wedding industry as a whole  – without hurting the feelings of my fellow wedding suppliers – because there is a lot of waffle talked about weddings.  Ultimately a wedding is about two people who love each other and want to declare that in front of their family and friends in their own way.  It shouldn’t  be about conspicuous consumption.  If that is what it becomes then really you’ve missed the point – go and spend it on a flash car or a big sparkly rock instead.

There will also be some personal stuff in here too – I’m only human and even I need a change of subject sometimes.

If you have any specific wedding questions you can email me via my website and I’ll do my best to answer your question.

Happy reading!

  2. Hi Jo,

Just come across your blog while checking results for Sophisticars on Google.
Your blog is great! what an excellent idea, we are updating our website shortly and would like to link your blog if thats ok.
I also like the photo of me with one of our cars (5th July 2009) please can i put this is on our website.

    Many thanks

    • Hi Phil
There is no problem with using some of the photos but don’t take them off the site – I’ll let you have a proper copy as soon as I get sorted after being away.
Glad you like the blog and let me know if I can help with images for your website in anyway.
      Kind regards

  3. Hi Jo,
just been catching up on your blog after a leave of absence. Wow – sounds like you have been really busy recently. Some fabulous photos as always, enhanced by some lovely looking brides! Or should that be the other way round?

Glad to hear you have kept your grey tresses – it’s very distinguished and I love it!
    Catch up soon,

    Debbie F x

    • I’m so glad you like my hair, Debbie! Hurrah! Someone reading my blog – its always a shock when someone tells me they’ve actually been reading it! We’ve done some great work this summer at Fotoamour and we’re looking forward to an even busier year in 2010. Keep reading.

  4. Hi Jo,
Thank you for a lovely write up after the Wedding Fayre.
Just to let you know today is my last day here. I have passed your leaflets on to Sabina Overheu who will be dealing with the Weddings booked for 2010 and she will contact you if she requires some more.
It has been a pleasure to work with you on the Weddings here and wish you every success for the future.

    • Hello Jane,
Many thanks indeed for your comments. I am sorry that you will no longer be at The Preston Marriott as you were a good friend to us there and a smiling face – always welcome! I hope that whatever comes next for you will be happy and fulfilling and with this in mind I wish you every success, genuinely, for your future.
I will contact Sabina shortly (best to let her settle in though!) and again, many thanks indeed and good luck. Keep reading the blog!!
      Kind regards

  5. Hi Jo,

Just wanted to say I thought you did a fantastic job at our friends, John and Caroline’s’ wedding.

You made everybody feel completely at ease whilst you were sneaking around snapping us all. I can’t wait to see the photos when the newly married couple return from their honeymoon.

    Kind regards

p.s. thank you for not telling everyone where I got my bargain fascinator from!

    • Hi Tilly,

Many thanks for your kind comments. Your fascinator was fab and no one would have known it was from anything other than a top notch store! Did you find a venue with a roaring log fire? Have a look at the absolutely lovely Inn at Whitewell, The Austwick Traddock (which is my total favourite but might be a bit too far off your particular track and I’m not sure whether its licensed for weddings either though there is a gorgeous country church within walking distance) and don’t forget Lytham Hall either. Its got your lovely fires, fabulous interiors and is licensed for marriages. It doesn’t have accommodation but The Clifton Arms and The Rooms are only a 5 minute drive (probably less) away and there is loads of accommodation in St. Annes too.

All of these places are nothing without the services of a good photographer though……well, I would say that wouldn’t I?!!! Hope we might see you soon, Tilly.

      Best wishes

  6. Hi jo,
Just wanted to say a big thankyou for making
Our wedding day on 5th June 2011 such a memorable one.
Your so easy to talk to and made all our guests feel at ease.

And the photo montage you brought around today is superb.
You really are fabulous and I can’t wait to sort out the albumn.
It’s always a pleasure to see you and you feel like an old friend.
I would recommend you to anyone and when Paul and I start our family you”ll be the
First to know to book in our bebefoto shoot.
Your fabulous and I’ll be sending in a proper thankyou but if anyone out there
Wants a down to earth amazing lady to make your wedding day that extra special then Jo is your lady.
Dad commented on how well you chose the photos for the montage, it’s just perfect.
